Keith Kerr, Chairman
Keith formed The Development Studio in 2009 in order to share his extensive experience in real estate with a younger generation with a vision to create a ‘boutique’ development company focusing on a wide range of high quality residential and commercial projects.
Prior to forming TDS, he spent 35 years at Swire Properties in Hong Kong, the last 20 years as CEO and Chairman. Projects developed during his tenure were Pacific Place, Festival Walk, the Taikoo Place campus comprising 13 office buildings culminating in the 150,000 m² One Island East as well as a wide range of residential projects. Projects initiated in Mainland China during his tenure include the Taikoo Hui mixed use development in Guangzhou, The Village at SanLiTun in Beijing (incorporating The Opposite House hotel), Indigo in the Jiang Tai area of Beijing and the prime mixed-use joint venture project with Hong Kong Resorts, Da Zhong Li, in the Puxi district of Shanghai.
He is President of the Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong and Non-Executive Chairman of Grosvenor Asia Pacific.
Ralph Wong, Head of Development and Investment
Ralph oversees all development and investment activities and is responsible for sourcing opportunities, deal structuring, debt financing, with shared responsibilities for sales and marketing.
Prior to joining The Development Studio in 2011, Ralph started his career as a Management Trainee at Swire Properties in a number of roles encompassing development and valuation, with an emphasis on retail and office projects such as TaiKoo Place and Festival Walk.
Ralph holds an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in finance and economics from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Canada and a Master of Science in Real Estate from The University of Hong Kong.
He is a director of TDS Partners Limited and a Chartered Surveyor.
Alex Leung, Head of Projects
Alex oversees the design and planning, technical coordination and project management of all projects with shared responsibilities for the sales and marketing.
He has experienced a wide diversity of roles since joining The Development Studio in 2010 varying from site assembly and redevelopment, through the master planning of residential and commercial properties, to the evaluation of real estate company portfolios and the formulation of long term development strategies. He is also actively involved in feasibility studies and the evaluation of potential projects.
Alex holds an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering and a Masters in International Healthcare Management from Imperial College, London. Pursuing his passion for design, he took time out in 2014 to complete a programme in constructed environments at Parsons School of Design, New York.
Winson Cheng, Assistant Development Manager
Winson joined The Development Studio in 2014, to build our capacity for market analysis, deal sourcing, structuring, due diligence and formulation of investment proposals. He has worked on assessing a diverse range of opportunities varying from industrial revitalisation projects, through commercial renovations to full scale office and residential redevelopments.
Prior to joining TDS, Winson worked at Knight Frank focusing on property valuation, negotiation and arbitration. His competencies were well recognised with the Young Talent Award.
Winson holds a Bachelor of Science in Surveying from The University of Hong Kong.
Stephan Spurr, non-Executive Director
Stephan joined The Development Studio in 2010 with responsibility for the asset management side of the business. After a full-time role for 5 years, he moved to the position of non-Executive Director in 2015.
Born in Asia (Tokyo) he has worked in the Asia Pacific region for the past 35 years, principally for Swire Properties Ltd. where he was Board Director and General Manager responsible for Island East (the 10 million square feet investment property portfolio comprising Taikoo Place, Cityplaza and Taikoo Shing). His experience has covered every aspect of the real estate industry with a particular focus on strategic marketing, retail and office leasing, as well as asset management in Hong Kong and the PRC. Most recently, he oversaw the marketing, pre-leasing and establishment of Taikoo Hui, Swire’s flagship mixed commercial development in Guangzhou.
